Rewriting the Language of Home, Inside and out

Chantal Emmanuel and Ashley Etling, founders of Livolia, met over 15 years ago at a tech company in San Francisco. Their paths converged in Silicon Valley, but their shared curiosity for beauty, rhythm, and sustainable design eventually led them far from the circuitry of startups and toward something more grounded, more circular.

Landscape Design Chantal Emmanuel

  • Founder

Chantal leads Livolia’s exterior design, shaping landscapes that serve both people and place. Rooted in the Hudson Valley, her work focuses on regenerative design, creating outdoor environments that enhance ecological health rather than override it. She believes landscapes should respond to the rhythms of nature, not resist them, and that thoughtful design can restore, not just reimagine.

When not working with clients, you can find her tending to her flower farm in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Designing,
with Intention

Today, through Livolia, they design spaces and landscapes that don’t just look good, but feel good. From rewilded meadows to gardens that blend into the landscape. They design sustainably with an ode to people, place, material, and the flow of life indoors and out.

There’s a rhythm to the spaces they create, one that invites wandering, pausing, gathering, and wondering. Each Livolia property carries a signature calm, a restrained but soulful composition that leaves you both at ease and a little enchanted. One that is meant to be shared for generations to come.

Ashley Etling Architectural Design

  • Founder

leads Livolia’s interior design, bringing a refined, purpose-driven perspective shaped by her background in architecture and product design. Influenced by the functional elegance of designers like Dieter Rams, her work reflects a belief that interiors should support how we live; quietly, intentionally, and beautifully.

Ashley splits her time between Tucson and Telluride, drawing inspiration from the contrast of desert minimalism and alpine warmth to inform spaces that feel both timeless and grounded.

Why Choose Livolia

Deep knowledge of local ecosystems and native plants

Tailored solutions for each client, not one-size-fits-all templates

High-touch service and direct collaboration from concept to maintenance

Designed for lasting impact and effortless enjoyment

Our love of things and spaces begins with curiosity, about where materials come from, how they’re made, and what they’re made of. We ask how each design, each object fits into and affects its environment, whether it will last, and most importantly if it truly supports our daily rhythm and well being. This kind of thoughtful attention creates beauty that endures and contributes to the health of people, place, and process. Our work lives in the spaces, the places, people call home and in the stories, meals, and moments that unfold within and beyond them. Always intentional, always timeless.

We would love to collaborate, inside or out >
