What Is Intentional Design? A Return to Place, Rhythm, and Meaning
At Livolia, our approach to designing both homes and landscapes is deeply personal. One of us grew up in a house where the garden was the heart of the home, alive with herbs, fruit trees, and long afternoons outside. The other was raised where the interiors were layered and luminous, a place where design invited connection and celebration. In both, there was always a love for gathering indoors and out.
Years later, after building businesses and solving complex problems in the tech world, we found ourselves returning to those roots. Wondering not just how we build, but why. Asking: how can we home and rehome with care for the planet and the people who dwell within?
That question led us here. Livolia was born from the idea that homes can be human-centric, regenerative, and exquisitely livable spaces that feel as good as they look, inside and out.
Designing with Intention
We call our philosophy intentional design,
a quiet but powerful approach that listens
to people, place, and rhythm. It’s not about
filling a space; it’s about understanding it.
Natural. Every material and object is considered for its origin and presence. From aged woods to hand-thrown ceramics, we select elements that feel honest and alive.
Light-Filled. We design with light, morning, mid-day, dappled, and warm. Shade is used as deliberately as sunlight, guiding how a space is experienced.
Crafted. We work with artisans, builders, and growers who understand that beauty comes from process and patience. Craftsmanship is always welcomed.
Rooted in Place. Whether designing a rewilded garden or curating a quiet corner of a living room, we start with what’s native, local, and relevant to the landscape and community.
Timeless. Our work is designed to last, not just in durability, but in feeling. It should age gracefully and grow richer with time.
Responsive. A well-designed space responds. It adapts to its inhabitants and supports the ways they gather, rest, move, and restore.
Rewilding as Design Practice
Our landscapes are living systems, meant to support biodiversity, cultivate beauty, and feel effortless. We often start with what’s overlooked: a forgotten slope, an overwatered lawn, a neglected corner of land. With native plantings, edible gardens, compost integration, and water reuse, these spaces become more than decorative, they become restorative.
Rewilding, to us, is not a trend. It’s a remembering.
A Home That Feels Like It Belongs
Inside, we carry the same intention. Natural materials, soft layers of light, and carefully chosen objects form spaces that support well-being and ritual. The interiors are not sealed off from nature, but in conversation with it, echoing the forms, colors, and textures found just outside the door.
It’s in the details
We design homes that are lived in and loved for generations. And while our work continues to evolve, the ethos remains the same: respond to the land, design for longevity, and always start by listening.
This is intentional design.
